Medicine Ball: Leather 12 Pound
Medicine balls are the classic strength and conditioning tools of boxers, but have been adopted by a variety of martial artists and other athletes. Traditionally made of leather shell with a heavy "soft" padding on the inside. Partner assisted training with a medicine ball allows the athlete to work a wide range of explosive moves that also help in neuro-muscular coordination.

Medicine Balls aren't just for core training. Recently, a buddy pulled a groin muscle while running an obstacle course. His home training solution was simple awesome. He uses a 12 pound leather med ball for leg extensions and leg curls. He does them in his back yard while sitting on his picnic table. Yep, he holds the ball between his feet.
For the classic medicine ball exercises, nothing beats the feel of a well conditioned and worn leather med ball. I recommend that you regularly use a leather cleaner and then a leather conditioner if you want to achieve that classic old school feel. In the Atomic Athletic Warehouse Gym, we use a brand called "Leather Therapy", but I have spoken with customers who swear by a variety of other leather conditioning products.
