Real Stone Lifters!
Just like the Basque stone lifters of Spain and Southern France use, this is the first of our honed black granite spheres.
While they are still a custom item, meaning an estimated 12 week delivery time, we can do them in any of the standard sizes.
Roger LaPointe, Atomic Athletic President, is shown with a 300 Pound Honed Atomic Ball in the Atomic Athletic warehouse. Behind the stone, you can see the Stone Sphere Instructional Wall Chart #1. Click this link for the 2 Wall Charts.
Honed or rough, which one do I buy?
A honed stone is NOT a polished piece of granite. Granite counter tops are polished. They have a mirror-like finish. To get a slippery smooth look like that would be silly and several more steps beyond the honed level of stone cutting.
Rough Atomic Balls have a finish comparable to that great diamond point power bar that grabs right into your hand. But wait, did I hear that you don't like that kind of heavy knurling?
Then the Honed Atomic Balls are for you. In fact, if you are going to be doing lots of reps, shouldering the stone, or attempting any of those cool Basque tricks, then you will not want a rough stone. Try shouldering a rough stone, but be careful, you don't want to rip your ear off!
Sure, a honed granite sphere is more expensive, but you will never have to replace it...
Buy the right one the first time.
All Honed Atomic Balls can have a 1 inch or 2 inch hole through the center for an additional $50 cost. We have also done countersunk holes. Call (419)352-5100 for this type of cusomization. Holes will slightly lower the weight of the stone.
